What properties does charcolive have?

charcolive® products have been designed and created with the primary aim of improving our quality of life, be it through the air we breathe or in our moments of sleep.

Towards this end, our products possess a series of unique properties intended to enhance and strengthen its qualities. Among those that stand out:

• It is an efficient absorbent, both for odours like those from moisture or from certain chemical substances. This is due to its macroporous structure, with a porosity of 100 interconnected pores per mm2, that makes charcolive® a powerfully absorptive product. It is particularly effective against ammonia, which is found in cat urine, and sulphides, a component of rotten eggs.
• It´s a natural ionizer, generating negative ions under light currents of air, which are beneficial for life.
• It´s ergonomic. The charcolive® carbonized olive pit´s spherical shape and its more or less homogenous size make it the ideal substance for filling pillows that adapt perfectly to the contours of the head. So, it helps neck and head to adopt a correct position while sleeping. All this promotes proper rest.
• It helps keep food fresh for a longer period of time, since it absorbs ethylene, the molecule that both climacteric fruits and vegetables (apples, pears, bananas, peaches, melons, apricots, tomatoes, figs, and custard apples, among others) emit in the ripening process. Eliminating ethylene means that these foods stay fresh longer.
• It purifies water, removing the contaminants and chlorine from water, whether in the bath, the aquarium or the fishbowl. Chlorine is useful against parasites and pathogenic agents; it can become poisonous, however, as it attacks the tissue of the skin and hair, besides causing serious problems when inhaled. charcolive® offers a series of advantages since it eliminates more free chlorine than other carbons and can be reused up to three times without losing its effect. We do not recommend using charcolive® in drinking water, as it alters the way water tastes. It is never toxic to the health.
